Minecraft for Windows 10 was launched alongside the new operating system in July this year but it remains in beta form, even the Pocket editions don’t offer all of the features available to players on the original PC or console versions. The company hasn’t confirmed if those versions of the game will get support for cross-platform play as well. Players of the popular building-block game will soon be able to use augmented reality, or AR, to build creations on their phones, overlaid on live video of physical locations in the real world. Up to five people can play across platforms on a local network, and five players will also be able to play together in the Windows 10 version of this title courtesy Xbox Live. On the Pocket editions players will now get to see improved weather effects, they will be able to create new items and will be able to roam around in the world they’ve created. Microsoft has promised previously that it will bring cross-platform play to Windows 10 and Pocket editions of Minecraft so it’s good to see that the company has followed through on its promise. Minecraft earth is the latest sandbox game by Mojang in the field of AR. Today we are releasing the final build of the game, containing some changes to make your time in Minecraft Earth. It’s taken the innovative ideas of Mojang, coupled with technology solutions from Microsoft, to make this ground-breaking experience a reality. For my Students Choice Presentation, I will tell the class about Minecraft Earth. That said, we still have one update left. Minecraft for Windows 10 as well as the Pocket editions of this popular game have been updated by Microsoft with support for cross-platform play, which basically means that players on Windows 10 can now build on the same server together as players on PC, Windows Phone, Android and iOS. Interestingly the update arrives almost a year to the day that Mojang was acquired by Microsoft, Mojang is the maker of Minecraft. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to re-allocate our resources to other areas that provide value to the Minecraft community and to end support for Minecraft Earth in June 2021.
